Abstract: By dissolving the opposition of different qualities in Aristotelian physics and through mathematical analysis of physics, Galileoattained his idea of atomism.Galileo’s atomism removes the distinction between matters on the earth and in the heaven, thus mathematical statementsand physical statements in astronomy reach an agreement, thereby providing metaphysical foundations for Copemican astronomical revolution.Thishas also laid an epistemological and methodological foundation for modem science w...
