Abstract: This paper takes the Christian mission of Canada on the northern regions of Henan as an example to investigate the establishment and development of medical missionary enterprise of inland China during the late 19th and the early 20th centuries. It also explores the historical evolution of churchmen handling the relationship between practicing medicine and doing missionary work, and explains the reasons for the evolution from the perspective of social history of science.
