Abstract: 马可·波罗对自然地理学和地质矿物学也做出了较大的贡献。他解释了燃点的变化，观察了有关沸点的现象，记载了北极地区，描绘了极昼和极夜，发现了北冰洋。他记录了各地人民开采利用石油、天然气、煤、石棉等重要矿藏的情况，保存了珍贵的矿物学和矿业开发资料，传播了有关的矿物学知识。
