Abstract: The rural political system had experienced the changes of self-government modern system replacing the traditional Baojia system and the two systems integrating each other at the beginning of the twentieth century.In this process,the traditional authority of village had been broken,and the modern administrative authority established.Take South Jiangsu as an example,the paper deals with their specific performance and analyzes the lessons to be learnt.
