Abstract: To explore the influence of positive electret with various surface potentials on the hypoglycemic effect of insulin, we conducted experiments using diabetic rats as animal model and positive electrets made of polypropylene(PP) film. The positive electrets was prepared with surface potentials of 500 V, 1 000 V, and 1 500 V using the corona charging method. After treating porcine insulin with the positive electrets for 12 hours, respectively, we injected the insulin into the model rats and observed the hypoglycemic effect. It is shown that, compared with non-treated insulin, the electret treated insulin has a better hypoglycemic effect. Meanwhile, the treatments of 1 000 V, 500 V and 1 500 V electret result in different hypoglycemic effects in a decreasing order. This indicates that an effective potential window for positive electrets exists in improving insulin’s hypoglycemic effect, i.e. the rational use of positive electret can enhance the hypoglycemic effect of insulin.
