Abstract: Microfibrillated cellulose(MFC) with different dimensions were prepared by mechanical refining and characterized with Pulpeye, Fiber Quality Analyzer(FQA) and Sedimentation, respectively. With the increasing of specific energy consumption, the length, width and aspect ratio of MFC is reduced significantly, while the content of fines is increased, and the curl index(rate) almost has no change at all. The result of Pulpeye is similar with that of FQA, and the measurement accuracy of the former is relatively higher. Sedimentation is a low-cost and easy-to-use method to measure the aspect ratio of MFC, although the obtained aspect ratio is higher than that of the instruments, there is a linear relationship between the sedimentation and the instruments.
