Abstract: Ozone pollution is most serious in autumn in the Pearl River Delta(PRD).Based on ozone source apportionment technology, choosing typical pollution episode in fall 2004,ozone pollution characteristics were studied and the ozone contribution of different emission sources were quantified. The contribution of Dongguan precursors’ emission to the ozone in the Pearl River estuary was significant with more than 40 ppb contribution in the afternoon.Emission from urban Guangzhou mainly affected the border of Shunde and Nanhai District.Source areas usually had the greatest contribution to ozone in the downwind direction within 40 km.The ozone in western PRD(Jiangmen East Lake)in fall was mostly from the precursors’ emission and transport from the central PRD.50 ppb of peak ozone concentration in the Jiangmen East Lake was from the emission in Guangzhou and Foshan.Traffic exhaust contributed most ozone in the PRD,generally 40ppb-50 ppb in serious polluted region.
