Abstract: ＜正＞汤用彤（1893-1964）,字锡予,现代哲学家、佛教史学家。祖籍湖北黄梅,1893年出生于甘肃渭源。1917年毕业于清华学堂,1918年赴美国留学,1922年毕业于哈佛大学研究院,获硕士学位。回国后,历任东南大学（中央大学前身）、南开大学、中央大学教授,1936年任北京大学（包括西南联合大学）教授、哲学系主任及文学院院长等职。
