Abstract: This is a summary of shock wave focusing studies in air and water started from mid 1970’s in the Shock Wave Research Center of the Institute of Fluid Science,Tohoku University.It was primarily motivated to develop a shock tube that will neatly create imploding shock waves in air.We observed,by using double exposure holographic interferometry,the motion of imploding shock waves.In early 1980’s,the introduction of 10 mg lead azide safely synthesized in house expanded the research field to underwat... More
