About account registration

What should you do if the sliding verification module does not display when registering an account?
If the sliding verification module cannot be displayed, please refresh the web page and try again. If the problem persists, please contact services@int.cnki.net for further assistance.
Can the registered account be changed or cancelled?
The registered account cannot be changed, and you can visit https://o.oversea.cnki.net/to close it. Please note that once the account is closed, the balance, usage records, and downloaded articles will not be retained.
Why does the system prompt “the username/email address already exists” when registering?
The username and email for registration must be unique.Please change another username or email address for registration.

About Login

When logging in, system prompts: "Login failed, your IP address is not within the permitted scope!"
The institution will provide CNKI with an IP address range that allows its member to access to its subscribed resources. If the IP you are using is not within the institution‘s IP range, you will not be able to log in as the member of the institution.
Why can I log in successfully with the username and password, while cannot log in via IP automatic authentication?
IP automatic authentication(IP login) requires your IP address to exist in only one account. When your IP is included in more than one account, the system will not support you to log in by your IP. Please contact services@int.cnki.net for further assistance.
I have successfully logged in, but the system prompts to log in after downloading a few articles.
This issue usually happens when there is a long period of inactivity before downloading, which will result in login information timed-out. Please refresh the web page and try again.
What should I do if the automatic login fails when I access CNKI through a proxy server?
If you can access CNKI and login in your institution without using a proxy server, please contact the institution librarian to modify the proxy config.txt refer to

Why does the login prompt: "Login failed, reason: wrong username or password. Pay attention to case sensitivity, please try again!"?
Please verify if the username and password entered are correct, and note that passwords are strictly case sensitive.
How can I retrieve my account password ?

If your account is registered on CNKI domestic platform (https://www.cnki.net/),please contact help@cnki.net for help. If your account is registered on CNKI overseas platform (https://oversea.cnki.net), please click "Forgot Password" in login module as below, follow the system instructions to retrieve the password.

About recharge

How do I recharge my account?
CNKI overseas platform supports WeChat, Alipay and Paypal to pay for articles or recharge the account. PayPal online payment supports various credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, Amax, Discover, JCB, and supports bank transfers.
Is there any validity period after I recharge my account?
There is no time limit for the using of account balance.

Does the search box on CNKI platform homepage support Boolean search such as "AND","OR"?
The search box on CNKI platform homepage does not support Boolean search, please choose professional search or advance search.
How to search through multiple search criteria?
Multiple search terms can be entered in the default search box, with spaces between each word; Different search terms could be entered in "Advanced Search". Please note that the content entered in the search box should not exceed 120 characters; Professional logic search can be used in “Professional Search”.
How can I retrieve the latest issue of a journal?

Go to the introduction page of a certain journal, click on the "Issue Browse" in the journal navigation, then you can query by year and issue, and retrieve the latest issue of the journal. As shown below:

How can I retrieve the journal if I know the journal title?
On the Journal Navigation page, select the search item "Journal Title/Former Title", and enter the journal name in the search box to retrieve the journal.
How to search core journals?

You can view all core journals through the "Core Journal Navigation" in the journal navigation. As shown below:

How to save the bibliographic information of search results?

Select the titles you want to export in the search results, click "Export and Analysis", select the format you want to save, and output it to a local file. As shown below:

How to check the impact factor of a journal? What is the difference between composite impact factor and comprehensive impact factor?

The journal impact factor can be viewed on the journal navigation page. the difference between the composite impact factor and the comprehensive impact factor lies in the statistical scope. The statistical scope of the composite impact factor includes not only journals, but also doctoral and master's papers and conference papers. The statistical scope of the comprehensive impact factor only includes journals. As shown below:

When I log in our institution’s account and want to download some articles, the system prompts: "Sorry, your organization did not order", How can I distinguish if the literature is subscribed by our institution or not?
In the search result list, if the download icon on the right side of the article title is in gray(gray)it means that the article is not subscribed. If the download icon is blue(blue)it means the article has been subscribed by your institution and can be downloaded. The yellow download icon indicates that you have not logged in(yellow), you need to log in before downloading.
Why are some articles in a journal available for download, while others prompt, "Sorry, your organization did not place an order?"?
CNKI's journal literature is subscribed by Series/Subjects. If this journal contains articles from series/subjects which your institution has not subscribed, you cannot download them.
Why does the web page display 504 when I download the PDF of dissertations or theses?
Due to the large size of dissertations and theses, it is likely to encounter 504 error messages when downloading full text by PDF. Please try to download by CAJ format or download PDF by chapters.
Why does the system prompt "The maximum concurrent number of products is full" when download articles?
Accessing through institutional accounts may encounter the situation that multiple users are simultaneously online. If the current number of online users has reached the maximum concurrent limit of the account, you must wait for others to log out before continuing to download articles.
Why garbled characters appear when I open a PDF file after downloading it?
If the default language of your computer system is traditional Chinese, you need to install the simplified font package to view the PDF.
My institution has subscribed CNKI databases, why does the system still prompt to recharge when I download articles?
Firstly please confirm ifr you have successfully logged in your institution’s account.Then please confirm with institution’s librarian if the article you want to download is within the subscription of your institution.If there are any further issues, please contact services@int.cnki.net for further assistance.
Why does the system prompt: "The product is not within the validity period!" when downloading?
The products ordered by institutions have a validity period, and they need to be renewed after the order expires; The validity period of different database products ordered by the same account may not necessarily be the same. Please contact institution librarian to confirm relevant information.
Is there a limit to the number of download articles?
For normal download behaviors, CNKI does not limit the number of downloads.
Why the article I downloaded has the suffix of .asp and cannot be opened for reading?
When using a third-party download tool such as Thunder Download, the downloaded document may have an ASP suffix, which is not a normal document format.Please turn off Thunder Download and download by mainstream browsers such as IE or firefox.
What should I do if I cannot open the article by CAJViewer?
Please visit https://cajviewer.oversea.cnki.net and download the latest version of CAJViewer.
Is there a duplicate deduction for downloading the same article?
Repeated downloads of the same literature within seven days will only be charged once.
Why we cannot access CNKI domestic platform outside of China’s mainland?
CNKI domestic platform https://www.cnki.net/ provides services for users of China’s mainland.CNKI overseas platform https://oversea.cnki.net/ provides services for users outside of China’s mainland.
How should I use CNKI when traveling or studying abroad?
You can access CNKI overseas platform by below two approaches:
1. Institution access: Please send email to services@int.cnki.net and provide the name of the overseas institution where you are located. If the institution has ordered CNKI products, you can access it for free through the institution’s subscription;
2. Personal access: You can visit CNKI overseas platform https://oversea.cnki.net to sign up a personal account.
Why do I cannot use 手机知网 APP overseas?
手机知网 APP is a product serving to users in China’s mainland only. If you want to use APP products overseas, please download CNKI Express in the mobile app store.

2.1 How do I manage institutional accounts and obtain user logs?

Please click on the institution name on the platform homepage and select "My Account" from the drop-down menu to enter the institution account management backend to obtain user logs.

2.2 Can I harvest user logs through SUSHI?

CNKI provides counter5 logs, and the link of SUSHI interface is: https://o.oversea.cnki.net/mycnki/sushi.html.

Off-campus Access

For the convenience of users, CNKI provides a variety of login methods, including IP login, account/password login and code scan login. At the same time, CNKI support off-campus access, and users and librarians can have a better understanding and using of off-campus access through following information.

If you are a librarian:
CNKI supports off-campus access through Shibboleth SSO, as well as proxy servers Ezproxy and OpenAthens. Please click button below to download proxy config.txt.
It should be noted that there are three prerequisites for Shibboleth service activation:
(1) The university has applied SSO system.
(2) The university has deployed shibboleth IDP locally(IDP should dock with the certification system of university).
(3) The university’s IDP has parsed by Shibboleth service provider or federation.

If you are a user:
If there is need to access CNKI outside the campus/institution, please click "Off-campus Access" entry on the login interface to reach the “CNKI Off-campus Access for Colleges/Universities/Institutions” page. If your institution is displayed on this page, it means that your institution supports remote access to CNKI through the Shibboleth proxy server, please click and jump to the institution login page. If your institution is not available on this page, please contact the librarian for other remote access methods.
The specific steps are as follows:
Step 1: Click the "Off-campus Access" button on the login page.

Step 2: Enter "CNKI Off-Campus Access for Colleges/Universities/Institutions" page, select university or institution name, then you can jump to the institution page to log in and access to CNKI platform.

If the institution name displayed on upper right corner of homepage, it proves that you have successfully logged in. If the name of institution is not properly displayed, please feedback to the librarian to contact us.

CNKI does not accept paper submissions, we suggest you to visit the official website of the journal to get more information.
My paper has been indexed by CNKI, what author's rights can I enjoy?
Please provide the title of your published paper and send the email to degreetax@cnki.net to get more information.
What should I do if I find that the information in an article published on CNKI is incorrect?
If your article is submitted to the journal and forwarded to CNKI for digital publication by the journal editorial department, please report the issue to the journal editorial department, and CNKI will coordinate with the journal editorial department to handle your case as soon as possible.
