Abstract: Shangsi Festival(i.e.March 3 in Chinese lunar calendar) is the typical Saint Valentine’s Day in ancient China.On the basis of mythology,folklore and sociology, the author analyzes the festival’s origin and changes,the contents which contains praying to God for children,eliminating evil spirits and warding off disasters,meeting lovers,etc.the current situation and mental identification,and so on.Then author advocates March 3 should become the Chinese Saint Valentine’s Day.
