Abstract: Objective To establish a method for determining the contents of Xanthiside and Xanthiazone in the fermentation process to control the quality of Massa Medicata Fermentata( MMF)by ultra performanceliquid chromatography( UPLC). Methods Contents of the Xanthiside and Xanthiazone was measured by UPLC, which were in the fermentation process of MMF for seven days. Results It was showed that the content of xanthiside was reduced, but the content of xanthiazone was first increased and then decreased. The linear ranges were 1.40 to 140 μg/ml( r = 0.999 1), 1.19 to 119 μg/ml( r = 0.999 1), respectively. The average recovery were 99.5 %( RSD = 1.6) for xanthiside and 101.6 %( RSD = 1.9)( n = 6) for xanthiazone, respectively. Conclusion The UPLC method was not only simple with good accuracy and reproductivity, but also could be applied for quality evaluation and control for Massa Medicata Fermentata.
