China Reference Works Online is the world’s largest online search platform for Chinese reference books, gathering over 15,000 reference books on language and characters, source of information and information retrieval. By fully digitizing the content of each reference book and supporting a full-text retrieval system, it improves users’ efficiency and experience in information retrieval. Additionally, it enriches library collections, addresses the constraints of space and accessibility associated with printed reference books, and helps readers find answers, clarify doubts and cultivate independent learning capabilities.

Rich and diverse resources: The database collects more than 15,000 reference books, including dictionaries of Chinese language, specialized dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, catalogs, illustrated handbooks, tables and data collections. It gathers more than 700 reference books on language and characters, 14,000 on source of information and 80 on information retrieval. It covers 10 disciplines such as philosophy and humanities, medicine and health sciences, engineering science and technology, economy and management science, and spans 168 sub-disciplines such as language and characters, archaeology, history, education and finance.

Professional and authoritative content sources: The database gathers resources compiled by authoritative experts and published by reputable publishers. It maintains stable cooperation with over 500 well-known Chinese publishers such as Shanghai Lexicographical Publishing House, Commercial Press and Zhonghua Book Company. The collection features a wide range of reference book types, including dictionaries of Chinese languages and other languages, specialized dictionaries, handbooks, catalogs, illustrated handbooks, chronologies, history books, teaching materials, monographs and encyclopedias.
